The Brunswick School is an all-boys independent school system comprised of a upper, middle and lower schools. The middle and lower share their own newly developed campus while the upper school consisted of a pair of detached and neglected brick structures, which no longer served the student body appropriately.
Throughout the renovation and expansion, Brown Sardina worked to create a series of interior and exterior spaces which complemented the sinuous glass architecture. Organic courtyard forms, brick plazas and flexible seating areas defined usable and comfortable spaces for students. Low stone walls emphasized the local rolling topography along the frontage while defining open lawn spaces in the rear. The reorganized vehicular circulation opened the opportunity for a network of rain gardens to capture and clean storm water before recharging the groundwater aquifer.
