Landscape architectural services were provided for the 325,000 square foot Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center in the heart of the University’s medical campus. Occupying nearly eight acres, the structure and landscape work harmoniously to navigate a 35 foot grade change and maintain campus connections, accommodate a subterranean parking garage and create comfortable open spaces.
Healing and contemplative gardens located throughout the site provide quiet areas for reflection while meandering paths, ramps, and stairs are integrated into the topography to provide outdoor therapy challenges for patients. Dedicated sculptures from local artists are informally placed within and on the periphery of the garden spaces to provide interest for patients, visitors, and staff.
