Since 1996 Brown Sardina has been a collaborating team member to develop and implement a cohesive 700 acre campus master plan for the northwest Connecticut private school. The final vision emphasizes the character of New England architecture, landscape, culture and traditions.
Throughout the 20+ years of involvement the campus has seen a dramatic transformation in which a main quadrangle was developed to host events and anchor the campus, site circulation was relocated to enhance the arrival sequence and preserve the core, and new facilities have been constructed to meet the needs of the current and future student population. Initial development phases included the construction of the Centennial Library and Humanities Building and Wachtmeister-Bates Math and Science Building. Subsequent phases included Ruger Arts Center, Curtis Boathouse and adjacent recreation fields, Flood Athletic Center, renovations to historic ‘Old Main’, and various student and faculty housing opportunities.
