Shams Dubai is a sustainable mixed use waterfront development within the proposed canal system of Dubai’s Business Bay District. Accommodating over 500 residential units, the site plan features contemporary structures which traverse and float above one another and the ground plane. Architecture and landscape work together to capitalize on the prevailing winds and the constant flow of water to create a passively cooled comfortable environment.
An interconnected network of boardwalks, promenades and docks connect the residences to the waterfront, restaurants and retail center located on the canal. Shade trees and trellis structures, in combination with building overhangs, provide coverage and frame views to the canal. Water gardens cascade into swimming pools and surround a series of accessible plaza spaces. A community clubhouse anchors the site where residents can participate in events and recreational activities.
