As an urban campus, Simmons College does not have the luxury of space. The consolidation of all graduate programs facilitated the construction of the School of Management, and as a result defined the last edge of the campus core. To connect the ground plane and roof deck a semi-intensive green roof terrace was constructed. Sweeping views of the Boston skyline create a perfect environment for an outdoor event. Oval perennial beds float within a carpet of sedums, creeping thyme, fountain grass, and prairie dropseed grass to create a changing landscape throughout the seasons. Additionally, the terrace materials and planting palette were carefully selected to absorb and filter rainwater while lowering operating costs of the building.
